"Try It Different" Tuesday: Birthday Elephant

Have you seen all of the new holiday HoneyPOP sets yet? We'll be showcasing each of them in the upcoming weeks and months.

For today's post, however, I thought I'd feature one of the most popular sets from our original release. It's 11024MC Birthday Elephant HoneyPOP Clear Set, drawn by artist Tammy DeYoung:

You may have seen my card from last fall's HoneyPOP blog hop:

I'd fussy-cut the elephant on the inside...and included a honeycomb balloon, of course:

Our DT member Jovi Kloess had also created one for last spring's HoneyPOP blog hop:

Her patterned paper panel on the inside added a nice finishing touch:

Michelle Pearson, another DT member, made this cute version:

She'd thought of the patterned paper idea, too:

DT member Debbie Fisher layered three contrasting (yet coordinating) patterned papers for a unique look, in addition to raising the elephant's face with foam tape:

She repeated the pattern inside her card by adding two paper-pieced balloons, in addition to the honeycomb one:

A while back, you may recall that I'd posted Keri Sereika's card. Keri is an "honorary" Inky DT member, and she'd made this for another group's blog hop:

She creatively used patterned paper as the ground inside her card:

In spring 2011, Linda Duke had made this amazing card for an eclectic Paperie HoneyPOP blog hop:

Look at how she'd creatively hidden the honeycomb balloon inside:

Sherry Cheever, Inky's Guest Designer in April, had also used the same set on this beautiful card during that hop:

She oriented the honeycomb balloon horizontally, rather than vertically, just for a change of pace:

We've spotted a few other Birthday Elephant HoneyPOP projects online from Inky customers, too, such as Joan Ervin's card:

That patterned banner is a terrific element, and I love the paper-pieced ears (above) and hat (below) on the elephant:

Here's a fun version by Shelly Koskinen that features dry-embossed polka dots and a zigzac border for variety in texture and shape:

Shelly finished the inside with the same colors and papers, as well:

This "pretty in pink" card is by CarolCel:

Like Debbie, she added some extra balloons on the inside, too:

And, last but not least, Marie Oberg put her honeycomb balloons on the front of the card:

Whew, that's a whole lot of elephants! Hope you had a TON of fun looking at all of them, Inky friends.
