Sunday Stamping With Danielle Lounds: Snowy & Owl

I'm so excited to start off 2013 by introducing Danielle Lounds as our Inky Guest Designer for January:

Danielle lives in an "itty bitty village" in Michigan called Grass Lake. It's not far from a couple of larger towns, so she can get her fix of big city life and shopping whenever she wants.

It's handy that many stores are nearby because, as Danielle confides, "My crafty-partner-in-crime is my mother and, whoa, is she an enabler when it comes to shopping for the craft supplies. Don’t ask her to help you pick between two items ‘cause she’ll tell you to buy both. Of course, I would never do that myself."

Yep, that last sentence ended with a wink. ;-)

But even these shopping fiends (um, I mean friends) didn't spend their Black Friday at the mall. Instead, Danielle and her mom made bunches of these delightful snowman ornaments:

"I have a soft spot for snowmen," says Danielle. "And [when it comes to Inky stamps], pairing them with the woodland critters makes for some of the cutest snowmen that I’ve seen."

She's referring to 11137MC Snowy's Woodland Pals Clear Set (drawn by artist Tammy DeYoung):

Danielle used the Snowy & Owl image (0490H in wood mount) and Sm. Happy Winter saying (0481D in wood mount) to create this adorable card:

One of the many things I love about Danielle's projects is how beautifully they're embellished. I think she uses just the right amount of finishing touches, such as the snowy ground made from Glossy Accents and Rock Candy Distress Glitter, along with the small, white pearls of falling snow:

The rounded corners, stitched layers, and rhinestones really add pizzazz:

And the polka-dotted flag topped with a button and jute are a perfect complement:

When you put it all together, you end up with a card that is super cute! Let's see it again:

Yep, this one's a keeper. Thanks so much to Danielle for sharing this awesome project. I can't wait to show you more in the weeks to come!

Paper: Brown and Green Cardstock (Stampin’ Up!), Marshmallow (Bazzill Card Shoppe), Choice Snow White (Taylored Expressions), Aspen Frost Designer (Basic Grey)

Accessories: Small Pearls, Rhinestones and Button (Stampin’ Up!), Glossy Accents and Rock Candy Distress Glitter (Ranger), Oval Nestabilities and Nested Pennants (Spellbinders), Corner Chomper (We R Memory Keepers), Natural Jute (May Arts), Heavy Duty White Thread and Sewing Machine, Foam Tape

What a beautiful card, Danielle! Just my type of style - enough bling but not over the top. Great coloring, too. Congrats on being chosen as guest designer for Inky. Looking forward to seeing more of your weekly designs. Robin Barwacz
