"Try It Different" Tuesday: Black-Eyed Susans

One of the nicest things about stamping is that you can send a "happy note" to someone who might need a little pick-me-up. Although store-bought cards are much appreciated, there is something very special about a handmade version that makes it even more meaningful.

Speaking of meaning, flowers have conveyed certain messages from giver to recipient for thousands of years. Today's featured stamps are from 11130MC Blackbird & Flowers Clear Set (drawn by artist Nancy Baier), which is a flower-filled grouping:

Black-Eyed Susans (4311H in wood mounted) can indicate encouragement, which are great for a "thinking of you" card, like this pretty one from Michelle Pearson that was previously featured as a weekly card on our main website:

Or they can express support during sad times, as with Nancy Baier's lovely sympathy card:
You can read more details about it on her blog, and also see the decorated inside.

For a cheerful look, Debbie Fisher used warm, bright colors that were offset with grassy green accents:

Her various layers of patterned paper add visual interest, and I think it's neat how she also used it for the die-cut scalloped mat, rather than just solid cardstock:

The distressed edges of the sentiment circle and image oval give Debbie's card a touch of vintage appeal:

Beverly Sizemore also used an oval die to cut out the image:

Like Michelle, she chose shades of pink and lilac for her flowers:

She accentuated the image piece with glitter glue and a pink mulberry paper mat:

It was placed onto a dry-embossed panel and the sentiment was layered partially on top for a unique, elegant design:

As you can see, whether you want subdued or bold, you can create it with this versatile floral image. Hope your day is filled with smiles, Inky friends!
