Sunday Stamping With Taylor Usry: Holiday Marvelous Match-Ups

Taylor Usry has been married to her husband for 11 years. They have two children, a daughter who just turned 8 and a son who is 3½. They also have a Siamese cat, Mr. Darcy (Taylor is a huge Jane Austen fan), and the kids are lobbying hard to rescue a dog.

When I asked her about a current favorite stamping technique, Taylor replied, "Clean and simple–it fits into the time I’ve got left over for crafting! Between marriage, parenting, travel, work, and reading (my other love), crafting often gets pushed aside."

Taylor's strategy for making time to stamp by using a simpler approach is just what today's project beautifully reflects:

"I created this as a CAS card because I do a lot of mass-producing for holiday cards," explains Taylor, "so I need things that are easy to reproduce and cost effective to mail. This fun color combo adds plenty of visual interest, and the recipients won't even miss the lack of embellishments!"

Her layered stamp pattern using turquoise and metallic silver inks makes a fantastic background:

"The possibilities with [these stamps] are endless!" she exclaims. Taylor is referring to 10932MC Marvelous Match-Ups Clear Set:

For the saying, she used one of the choices from 11188MC Christmas Sentiments Clear Set (drawn by artist Tammy DeYoung):

It's a bit difficult to tell in the photo, but the metallic gold ink has a lovely, lustrous sheen:

Taylor rounded the corners of the saying piece on the right side, to echo those of the other layers...what a clever way to continue the "circle" theme of this striking card!

To make it yourself, here's what to do:

Inks: IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® Delicata™ Pigment Ink, IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® VersaColor™ Pigment Ink (Turquoise), IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® Encore!™ Ultimate Metallic Pigment Ink (Silver)

Other Supplies: Ultra Smooth White Cardstock (Crafter’s Companion US), Black cardstock (Recollections by Michaels), Gold cardstock (DCWV – unknown pack), corner rounder punch (Martha Stewart)

1. Cut cardstock pieces to desired sizes; round three corners.

2. On white cardstock, stamp random circles using the VersaColor™ Pigment Ink (Turquoise). Allow a minute to dry, then stamp more random circles using Encore!™ Ultimate Metallic Pigment Ink (Silver).

3. On a smaller piece of white cardstock, stamp sentiment using Delicata™ Pigment Ink.

4. Assemble card as desired. (Finished card is 4¼" x 5½".)

very nice card. I try to do clean and simple but it never works out that way. I admire anyone that can.
